#DicasOZmap | Import with images

Importing is the process that allows you to bring your externally documented elements into OZmap, replicating their attributes, but did you know that images can also accompany the elements in this import?

Within our system, images are created and stored using a resource we call Posts (for more details, click here), which can be created manually either in OZmap or OZmob. These creations are made one by one and only on existing elements, but is it not possible to import elements already with the created images?

The answer is yes, and we will follow a very simple step-by-step guide for this.

The first thing to do is upload your photos to your preferred public image hosting site. We usually recommend using Imgur, Imgbox or Cloudinary, but if you already have a favorite, no problem.

This needs to be done for the system to be able to locate and identify your photos, so it's a crucial step. Unfortunately systems like Google Photos are not effective in these cases, as your images will be stored privately, preventing external access.

Once the images are hosted, it will be possible to obtain a URL from each one of them, by right-clicking on the image and selecting the option “Copy image address”.

From there, we can start editing our CSV file. If your file is still in KMZ, you can convert it here.

You already know the initial part of handling tables for import, but if you still have doubts, you can access our Data Import article, which will show you what is mandatory or not in each table.

After everything is edited, let's get to the photos. You should create a new column in your table called “Images” or “Images”, depending on the language your file is in. English nomenclatures are the default, but the system also accepts Portuguese heading names. In the lines of this column will be those URLs that we had created earlier, each image in the respective line of its element. If necessary, you can add more than one image at a time to the same element, just separate the URLs with a comma.

The filled table should be similar to the image below, in this case an import of poles.

To import, just go to the “Import from data” icon, select the element to be imported and attach your file.

Once imported, your post will be available for viewing, just access the corresponding tab.

And that's it, your images are now properly added!
